Cape town from the Sea
This view of Cape Town is one that is recognised the world over.

The Victoria and Alfred Waterfront
In 1860 Prince Alfred, Queen Victoria’s second son, tipped the first load of stone to start the construction of the breakwater for the harbour. Alfred Basin proved too small, so Victoria Basin was built. The Victoria and Alfred Waterfront takes its name from the two basins around which it was developed.

The Waterfront Tourist Area
This area contains shops, restaurants, cinemas and other tourist attractions. On our first visit we saw, in the background, Table Mountain covered by its famous “table cloth”.

The Clock Tower
This striking building now houses a Tourist Centre.

A Dynamic Duo
Whilst we sat eating our lunch we were entertained by two “native” musicians – one of whom sported some rather incongruous looking footwear.

|
A Working Harbour
The commercial shipping area is located in the northernmost part of the harbour.
