Hammerkop

The Hammerkop is a wading bird that walks along the water’s edge searching for small fish and insects.

Lilac Breasted Roller

These beautiful birds have long tails that they use to control their acrobatic display flights which involve rolls, twists and dives.

Carmine Bee Eater

These birds use their long down-curved beaks to forage for bees and locusts.

Marabou Stork

The Marabou Stork gets most of its food from carrion, often joining vultures at a kill.

Yellow Hornbills

Hornbills nest in holes in trees. The female is sealed into the hole with mud with a small gap left to facilitate feeding but too small to admit predators. She re-emerges when the chicks are hatched.

The Waterhole

This is a haven for both birds and animals, especially in the dry winter months.
