Lion King in Reflective Mood
At the Mohololo Centre, many of the animals are too injured to be released back into the wild. They are often kept in large enclosures and form part of the Educational Programme.

This civet is one of a pair at the Centre. Civets are small highly adaptable omnivores.

“Who’s had my Crown then?”
This hand-reared Crown Eagle can not be released into the wild as it has imprinted with humans and would attack them as competitors for their territory. However, it has been possible to use it for breeding purposes and its offspring are returned to the open skies.

One of a pair of eagles who have sustained damage by flying into a power line. They are quite comfortable with human company and enjoy a high perch!
